GS Lab's Cougar platform is a suite of components. It has components for audio, video, application sharing, white-board, and chat media. Since it is packaged as a usable product, it also provides a full OSS/BSS capability.

GS Lab has developed a comprehensive strategy for the Cougar component suite packaged together as a platform for building communication services. Cougar has something to offer along all the three dimensions – richer media, scale of deployment, and usability in the enterprise. Cougar enables the features below.

	Voice, Video, application sharing, and whiteboard sharing
	Presence’ to enable effective collaboration across multiple channels and applications
	Multiple modes of accessing the same functionality (e.g., voice, SMS, GPRS, Web interface, email, etc.)
	Multi-tenanting to support segmentation of resources, customizable billing and reporting
	Hosted delivery of all features available in an IP-PBX deployment

Cougar integrates Asterisk open source PBX system to provide seamless enhanced voice services. There are two core components of the platform, viz., a PSTN gateway and an audio media server, which have been developed using Asterisk as the base service. Cougar achieves scalability by distributing multiple phone calls and audio conferences intelligently across multiple PSTN gateways and audio media servers.
