EnWat – An Innovation in Energy and Water Management
Water is indispensable for our existence. We live at an implausible point in the history of water management— we live in a globally connected era witnessing a steady economic growth and yet we are facing new water-supply challenges, due to dramatic changes in climate and precipitation patterns.
Apart from natural calamities, man-made factors like population explosion, pollution, enhanced competition, conflict of interests and trans-boundary water sharing issues add to the world’s water woes. Rapid urbanization is fast depleting surface and groundwater resources causing a serious threat to our survival. Half of the world’s wetlands have been lost to development. The available water resources are degrading in terms of quality, threatening the health of mankind and ecosystems, thus increasing the cost of water treatment. Around 780 million people around the globe lack access to clean water and approximately 52 billion cubic meters of fresh water is consumed annually for global energy production. Water management becomes challenging mainly, because of lack of awareness, wastage, improper use of technology, underinvestment in green initiatives and inefficient use of available resources.

As an old adage goes “what gets measured, gets managed” is particularly true when it comes to effective water management. The world’s water problems can be addressed by first identifying the gaps in the existing systems, measuring demand vs supply, and eventually building a sustainable water management system. Leveraging technology, precisely, the Internet of Things (IoT) and predictive analytics can help conserve and manage this precious resource.
EnWat- GS Lab’s home-grown Energy and Water auditing solution helps Enterprises to overcome challenges posed by traditional systems. EnWat is a scalable, flexible software platform which helps individuals or Enterprises to manage, audit and control their water and energy usage. EnWat makes use of innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) to capture and monitor data on the field and leverages predictive Analytics to provide real-time insights into energy usage, uncover areas of inefficiency and automate energy savings.
